Stockport Council has confirmed Cllr Mark Roberts will continue as Leader of the Council, with Cllr Jilly Julian remaining Deputy Leader for the new municipal year.
The appointments were confirmed as the council set out its Cabinet team and committee roles following a Council Meeting. Cllr Roberts took over as leader in 2025, replacing Cllr Mark Hunter.
Cabinet members confirmed for the year
The council said six other councillors will sit in the Cabinet alongside Cllr Roberts and Cllr Julian.
They are Cllr Dan Oliver, Cllr Grace Baynham, Cllr Colin MacAlister, Cllr Helen Foster-Grime, Cllr Micheala Meikle and Cllr Jake Austin.
Each Cabinet member holds a portfolio covering areas of council responsibility. Those portfolios shape how political priorities are managed across local services, budgets and policy decisions during the municipal year.

Stockport’s confirmation follows similar council leadership updates elsewhere, including recent coverage of new council leadership arrangements in Sandwell.
Committee chairs and group leaders
The Council Meeting also approved appointments to committees, including chairs and vice-chairs. Residents looking for the full breakdown will need to check the council’s published list of Cabinet members, committee chairs and vice-chairs, as well as the wider committees page.
The council also noted political group leaders for the forthcoming year: Liberal Democrat leader Cllr Mark Roberts, Labour leader Cllr Rachel Wise, Stockport Community Group leader Cllr Asa Caton, Green Party leader Cllr Liz Crix, Independent Ratepayers leader Cllr Anna Charles-Jones and Reform UK leader Cllr Brian Battle.
