Milton Keynes primary school children are being invited to design a road safety banner for use outside school gates, with entries open until 5pm on Friday 12 June 2026.
The Park Smart Banner Competition is being run by Milton Keynes City Council in partnership with MKFM. It asks children to create a bright banner with a clear message about safe and considerate parking during the school run.
Who can enter the Park Smart competition
The competition is open to all primary school children in Milton Keynes.

Entries can be sent through schools, or submitted individually by parents or guardians. Designs should be created inside the banner shape on the official template entry form, using strong colours and a short road safety message that drivers can understand quickly near a school entrance.

The winning child will receive a brand-new bike. Their design will also be professionally produced as a banner and made available free of charge to schools across Milton Keynes.
The winner’s school will be offered either child safety bollards or secure cycle parking. Two runners-up will each receive a £50 high street shopping voucher.

How to submit a design
Families and schools should download the template entry form from the council’s road safety page, create the design inside the banner outline, then submit it before the deadline.
Entries can be emailed to [email protected] or delivered to the council’s Civic office at Saxon Gate East, Milton Keynes, MK9 3EJ.
A shortlist of three designs will be shared anonymously on MKFM’s social media channels for the public vote.
Councillor Kerrie Bradburn, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation at Milton Keynes City Council, said the competition gives children a voice on an issue they experience every day, adding that small changes in driver behaviour can make journeys safer around school gates.
