A 4.5-mile route through the city
The third annual Wolverhampton Kidical Mass ride will follow an approximately 4.5-mile gentle route from East Park around the heart of Wolverhampton and back again.
Bike marshals will accompany riders along the route, which is expected to take in city landmarks including Molineux. Where possible, the ride will follow cycle lanes developed by City of Wolverhampton Council.
The format is designed around families riding together rather than a race. Younger children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and children in the park must also be accompanied by an adult.
Councillor Bhupinder Gakhal, Cabinet Member for City Transport at City of Wolverhampton Council, said the event gives children and families the chance to build confidence riding together on public roads and cycle lanes.
Cycling activities in East Park all day
The bike ride is only one part of the programme. East Park will host stalls, refreshments, live entertainment and cycling activities during the four-hour event.
Visitors will be able to take part in cycling skills sessions, try the East Park Cycle Speedway track for free, visit bike repair workshops and see a Lime bike experience zone showcasing electric pedal hire bikes.
The event is organised by No Limits to Health and City of Wolverhampton Council. It is also supported by West Midlands Combined Authority and Transport for West Midlands, Cycling UK, British Cycling and the Walk, Wheel, Cycle Trust, among others.
Sam Henry, founder of No Limits to Health, said Kidical Mass celebrates cycling for physical and mental health as the city continues to be made safer for cycling.
Part of a wider week for cycling and green travel
The Wolverhampton event is timed to coincide with The Great Big Green Week, which runs from 6 to 14 June, and Bike Week, which runs from 8 to 14 June.
Beccy Marston, West Midlands Active Travel Commissioner, said Kidical Mass brings communities together and gives local families a guided way to explore Wolverhampton’s growing cycle network.
Hugh Porter MBE offered his best wishes to those taking part and said he hoped everyone enjoys the ride.
What families should bring
Participants should bring roadworthy bikes if they want to take part in the ride. Everyone is advised to wear a helmet.
Registration is free through Eventbrite. The event takes place at East Park, Wolverhampton, on Saturday 13 June 2026, from 11am to 3pm, with the marshalled ride scheduled to begin at about 12.30pm.
