Free ParkPlay sessions are running on Saturday mornings in Southall for residents who want an easy way to get active, meet neighbours and use local green spaces.
The sessions are open to everyone, cost nothing to attend and do not require sports kit, equipment or previous experience. Residents are asked to register on the ParkPlay website before turning up.
ParkPlay is a Sport England-backed charity that runs weekly, community-led outdoor play sessions. It has now been active in the borough for 5 years, with local volunteers helping to organise games that are designed for different ages, fitness levels and abilities.
Southall parks hosting ParkPlay sessions
ParkPlay is available on Saturday mornings at these Southall locations:

| Location | Area |
|---|---|
| Southall Park | Southall |
| Jubilee Park | Southall |
| The Green Quarter | Southall |
The format is deliberately simple: register, arrive at the park and join the session. There is no membership fee and no need to bring specialist clothing or sports gear.
Games are built around movement and confidence
Activities can vary by session, but the programme includes informal games such as dodgeball, treasure hunts, quick cricket and handball.
The aim is not competitive sport. ParkPlay is set up as a relaxed way for people to move more, spend time outdoors and connect with others nearby. That makes it useful for families, older residents, people returning to activity and anyone who might feel put off by a gym or formal sports club.

Councillor Lauren Wall, Ealing Council cabinet member for thriving communities, said ParkPlay gives people of all ages and backgrounds a chance to connect and have fun in parks. She said the free sessions are suited to residents who want to get active outdoors, make friends or simply play games.
How to join or volunteer
Residents who want to take part should register through ParkPlay, then go to one of the listed Southall sessions on a Saturday morning.
People interested in supporting the sessions can also ask about volunteering. Local volunteers play a central role because they know the parks, families and community groups around them.

The volunteering angle may also interest readers looking for wider community options, including local volunteering routes across London boroughs.
Southall Park group marks 5 years
Gurpreet and Gurinder Kaur, who run the Southall Park group, are preparing a community birthday event in August to mark 5 years of ParkPlay in the area.
Gurinder said ParkPlay had helped them connect with the local community and make many friends. Gurpreet said around 50 people attend regularly, with numbers sometimes reaching 80, adding that being active together has supported health and wellbeing.
Rick Jenner, ParkPlay chief executive officer, said the charity helps people realise their potential in a fun and informal setting, with volunteers helping to build happier and healthier communities.
