Brent families will be able to visit two Best Start Family Hub launch events this summer as the borough rolls out a new early years support model.
The events are free to attend and are aimed at families, parents, carers and young people who want to meet local professionals and find out what help will be available through the hubs. The first launch is at St Raphael’s Best Start in Life Family Hub on Wednesday 17 June, from 1pm to 3pm. A second event follows at Preston Park Best Start in Life Family Hub on Thursday 2 July, from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
Brent Council says the hubs are part of a new Early Years Strategy intended to make family support simpler, faster and easier to access across the borough.

Services families can ask about on the day
The new Best Start Family Hubs were formerly known as Brent Family Wellbeing Centres. They are intended to bring health, education and family support services together in local community settings.
At the launch events, residents will be able to meet local professionals and connect with services covering health visiting, parenting support, early education, childcare advice, speech and language development, SEND support, and activities for children and young people.
The hubs are designed to support families from pregnancy through to age 18, and up to 25 for young people with special educational needs. Brent Council says the aim is to help parents and carers get the right support at the right time, with a stronger focus on earlier intervention and support for younger children with additional needs.

New early years strategy behind the hubs
The launch events sit alongside Brent’s new Early Years Strategy, which the council says was shaped by the views of more than 400 local parents, carers and professionals.
The strategy sets targets to increase take-up of free childcare, improve school readiness and help more children thrive by the time they start school. It also focuses on tackling inequalities before they become barriers to a child’s future.
Cllr Jake Rubin, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Employment and Climate Action, said every child deserves the best possible start in life and every family should be able to access support quickly and easily.
“Our new Best Start Family Hubs and Early Years Strategy mark a major step forward for Brent, bringing services together so families receive joined-up support from pregnancy through to school age,” he said.
What to check before going
The confirmed launch details are St Raphael’s Best Start in Life Family Hub on Wednesday 17 June, 1pm to 3pm, and Preston Park Best Start in Life Family Hub on Thursday 2 July, 11.30am to 2.30pm.
The events are free, and Brent residents are invited to attend. The announcement does not list street addresses, transport details, food stalls or accessibility arrangements, so families planning a visit should check the council’s Family Hubs information before setting off.
