Bexley road closures and planning notices to check

By Munisha local news desk

Bexley residents have new public notices to check for the week dated 27 May 2026, including road closures in Erith and Bexley, parking and loading restrictions in Sidcup, and a planning application in the Brook Street Conservation Area.

The notices affect journeys from 1 June and 2 June, with some traffic orders legally valid for up to 18 months even where the works are expected to finish much sooner.

Erith water main works on Frinsted Road

Frinsted Road in Erith is due to face phased road closures from 1 June 2026 while Galliford Try carries out new water main installation work on behalf of Thames Water.

The affected sections are between Beechfield Road and Twigg Close, Stuart Mantle Way and Filby Close, and Filby Close and Birling Road. Diversions will use nearby routes including Stelling Road, Stuart Mantle Way, Birling Road, Colyers Lane and Ramsden Road, depending on the closure point.

The order is valid for 18 months, with the works expected to be completed within that period. Emergency services and works vehicles are exempt where required. For local comparison, residents may also want to note previous Erith road closure updates.

Sidcup parking and loading restrictions

Royal Road and Maylands Drive in Sidcup will have waiting restrictions and loading prohibitions on both sides of the carriageway for their full length.

The restrictions start on 1 June 2026 to allow M Group Water Ltd to carry out water mains replacement works for Thames Water. No diversion route is required, but drivers should check signs before parking or unloading because the restrictions will be removed when they are no longer needed.

The order is valid for 18 months, although the works are expected to take up to 124 days.

One-day closure on Upton Road South

A separate traffic order comes into effect on 2 June 2026 for highway improvement works in Bexley. Upton Road South will close from Basing Drive to Cross Lane, with closures also at the junctions of Finsbury Way, Riverdale Road and Love Lane.

The work is expected to be completed within one day. The signed diversion will use Upton Road South, Parkhurst Road, Parkhill Road and Riverdale Road, with access maintained for Upton Road South, Finsbury Way, Riverdale Road and Love Lane where possible.
