Belfast Fleadh guide: dates, stays and campsites

Belfast is preparing for a full week of music, competitions and street activity as Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann comes to the city for the first time from Sunday 2 August to Sunday 9 August.

The festival will take place at various locations across Belfast, with the main programme of Fleadh activity centred in the city. No fixed daily start time has been announced in the source information. Prices vary by event and by accommodation choice, while official accommodation and camping bookings are being directed through the Fleadh Cheoil website.

The event is aimed at the general public, music fans, families, groups and visitors travelling for Irish music and culture. Around 800,000 people are expected to attend what organisers describe as the world’s biggest celebration of Irish music and culture.

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann runs across Belfast for eight days

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann will be hosted in Belfast from Sunday 2 to Sunday 9 August, bringing competitions, concerts, céilís, street performances and cultural events into the city over eight days.

Belfast City Council and Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann are hosting the event, which is set to return to Belfast again in 2027. The 2026 edition is expected to draw visitors from across the island of Ireland and further afield, including people taking part in competitions as well as those coming to listen, watch and stay for the wider atmosphere.

The city’s accommodation and hospitality sector is already being positioned around that demand. According to the council’s update, more than 3,600 accommodation options are listed for booking on the official Fleadh Cheoil accommodation page.

Hotels, B&Bs and student rooms are part of the stay options

Visitors looking for a place to stay during the Fleadh have a broad mix of options, from budget and luxury hotels to self-catering accommodation, student accommodation, B&Bs and guest houses.

That spread matters because the event is likely to attract very different types of visitors. Some will be in Belfast for the full week, while others may drop in for several days or combine the festival with a wider summer break in the city.

The accommodation options listed by organisers cover individual travellers, families and groups. The council also notes that B&Bs and guest houses may suit visitors who want to explore Belfast’s neighbourhoods beyond the main sessions and formal programme.

Councillor Natasha Brennan, chair of Belfast City Council’s Strategic Policy and Resources Committee, said the city has options for those focused on the music and those looking to take in more of Belfast as a UNESCO City of Music.

Three official campsites have been confirmed

Official Fleadh campsites have been confirmed at Titanic Quarter, Ormeau Park and Falls Park, each serving a different camping need.

Titanic Quarter will offer camper van and caravan facilities in one of Belfast’s best-known locations. Traditional tent camping will be available at Ormeau Park in south Belfast and Falls Park in west Belfast.

All three sites are described by organisers as offering convenient access to the city centre, where the main Fleadh programme will take place. Facilities listed for the campsites include toilets, showers, parking, food vendors, bar facilities, support staff and 24-hour security.

Camping bookings open at noon on Monday 1 June

Bookings for the three official Fleadh campsites will open on Monday 1 June at 12 noon. Organisers say demand is expected to be high and capacity is limited at each location, so early booking is advised.

Further details on what is needed to book, as well as facilities, services, exclusions and costs, are listed by organisers on the official camping information page. Package options including car parking are available for bookings at Ormeau Park and Falls Park.

If parking is needed at either of those two sites, organisers say it must be included at the time of booking.

Traffic and transport arrangements have not yet been published. The council says those details will be announced in June, and attendees are being encouraged to follow official event travel guidance once it is released.
